    With twenty-two years experience of teaching physical education and school sport and coaching at grass roots, development and elite levels of sport, Paul started out at as a secondary PE teacher.

    He worked at two Specialist Sports Colleges before turning his attention towards primary education. As a School Sport Coordinator within a large SSP, Paul found a passion for working with children aged 5-11 and began supporting a number of colleagues and schools to developing their primary PE offer. He left full time teaching to establish a teaching and sports coaching business, working with over 25 schools across Yorkshire and Derbyshire. He maintained a strong link to his teaching roots throughout this time, ensuring that he was still regularly at the chalk face.

    Paul began a new chapter in his career when he returned to PE full time in February 2013. He embarked upon a transformational change within a large junior school as the PE Lead, embedding PE, school sport and physical activity as key drivers and strengths of the school. He achieved consecutive bronze, silver and three gold School Games Mark awards, achieved recognition as a Centre of Sporting Excellence with Yorkshire Sport, gained selection as one of only four primary schools in England to be involved in the Youth Sport Trust Innovation Schools Network and one of only six primary schools involved in the YST Ambassador Schools programme. Paul was involved in an innovative research project with Exeter University and the YST utilising his pedagogical approach to improving attitudes to editing and improving writing using PE as the vehicle to drive change. His work featured as an example of good practice in the YST national publication.

    Paul is currently a Development Coach for the Youth Sport Trust as one of their carefully selected leads to support the Counties of  Lincolnshire and Humber.

    Having spent a career in teaching, Paul brings empathy, passion and experience to the partnership. His knowledge of teaching and learning, whole school impact, assessment for learning and cognitive science, combined with a clear vision and drive to advocate, champion and influence, will benefit all those who engage with the Partnership.

    Jack Butler

    Sport and Physical Activity Assistant

    Jack has over 10 years of experience coaching, teaching and mentoring within sport and education and is a UEFA licenced football coach, with a full honour’s degree in sports and sports coaching.

    His journey began after studying sports coaching at college with a role managing and coaching a school’s football programme, whilst working at Chesterfield Football Club from grass roots to an elite standard, delivering across community programmes, Chesterfield Ladies and the clubs pre academy programme.

    He worked at Derby County Football Club for a number of years across a range of different roles and departments before turning his attention to education. After graduating from Sheffield Hallam University with a full honour’s degree in sports coaching, he gained experience lecturing sport at a specialist’s sports college, delivering a range of different sporting subjects such as sports psychology.

    This new chapter provided an opportunity within a SEN school, working on the planning and development of the physical education delivery, also having a role as a behaviour and learning mentor.

    Having spent 10 plus years within sport and education Jack brings to his new role as Sport and Physical Activity Assistant, knowledge, experience and a passion for sports development.

    After working as a SEN TA and Forest School Assistant in a Primary School for the past several years Louise decided she needed a new challenge. 

    She has a NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration and previously worked as an Administration Assistant at Derbyshire County Council in Children’s Services. 

    This is a new role within the SHAPE team and Louise is looking forward to supporting her colleagues and ensuring efficient administration within the office.

    Senior School Sport and Leadership Officer / SGO Tupton Hall

    School Games Organiser - Tupton Hall (North East Derbyshire)

     

    India's role has grown over recent years and now becomes the Senior School Sport Officer and SGO for North East Derbyshire.

    A graduate from Leeds Beckett University with a BA Honours in Sport Development, India recently completed an MA in Sport Development and Management.

    India currently held two voluntary roles with the Youth Sport Trust working as a Team Leader at the national Girls Active Camps and Girls Football Youth Leadership Camp. India has been trained and works as a Young Event Host at many of the YST national and regional conferences and has received much praise for her public speaking.

    India's passion is athletics and is a Level 4 National Technical Official with British Athletics, officiating at national and international events. These include the IAAF and IPC World Championships in London (2017) and the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Birmingham (2018) and the Commonwealth Games Brimingham (2022). India is also set to officiate at the upcoming IAAF World Indoor Championships in Glasgow in March 2024.

    Since studyng at Sheffield Hallum Univiersity and recently graduating with a Bsc Honours in Sports Coaching Regan has engaged in many sporting roles leading him to his position. Regan has been to many differnent primary schools across Derbyshire delivering multi-sports sessions and leading sports holiday camps out of term time.

    Regan's passion for sport comes from his background as a 100m and 200m sprinter where he has competed at the British Championships and internationally. Regan also assists in making sprinting programs for athletes to complete as part of their working routines. Athletics have given Regan a great sense of fulfilment which he wishes to pass on through his delivery of sport. 

    With 5 years of experince in sport delivery Regan has a vast amount of knowledge he wishes to pass on to the next generation. Regan aims to inspire every young person he interacts with knowing that through sport you can achieve personal goals and success.

    Physical Education Specialist and Mentor

    Since graduating with a B.Ed. Hons in Human Movement Studies & Music as a subsidiary in 1984, Liz has had 38 years of teaching experience. Having become Head of Girls PE in 1987 & teaching both subjects in secondary schools within the county for 20 years, Liz took on the SSCO role with the Chesterfield School Sport Partnership in 2004. More recently, Liz works as a PE Lead Teacher and Mentor for the Partnership, working alongside teachers in primary schools to help promote the delivery of high quality PE lessons.

    Liz has also been involved in county schools netball since 1985 and is still an active member of the DSSA Netball committee. A talented sportswoman, Liz has represented her county in athletics, tennis and netball & selected for England netball trials at U18 and U21 levels.
